Vaporizers FAQ

What is a Vaporizer?
Vaporizer is a device that is used to heat the substance to a "just below burning" temperature, resulting in releasing the active ingredients in the substance in a form of Vapor. The more precise and consistent the temperature is, the better the Vaping experience and overall efficiency.
What are the most common types of Vaporizers?
Vaporizers come in all shapes and sizes, and might be used with various materials and substances. The main types of Vaporizers are these:
  • Portable Vaporizers- units that do not require an electric plug-in and can operate on batteries.
  • Pen Vaporizers- a subcategory of Portable, the Pen Vapes are slim and discreet, resembling a shape of a pen.
  • Vape Mods- another subcategory of Portable, Mods are used with e-Liquids and use high powered batteries to produce a large amount of Vapor.
  • Desktop Vaporizers- units to use in-house, and require a power outlet to operate.
What materials are compatible with a Vaporizer?
  • ? Herbal- can be used with dry herbs and medicines.
  • ? Concentrate- can be used with "honey" like Concentrate and Wax.
  • ? e-Liquid Vapes- can be used with Vape juice or essential oils.

Dry Herb Vaping Tips

Make sure your Herb is Completely Dry
If you are not getting the best performance from your dry herb vaporizer the most common culprit is the quality of your herb. More often than not, it is the moisture in your herbs that plays a spoilsport. This is because dry herb vaporizers are primarily meant for well dried up material. Excessive moisture in your herbs not only dampens the taste, but is also detrimental to the health your vaporizer. As most of the vaping enthusiasts tend to overlook this fact, they get harsher hits and lesser vapor. Also, the heating chamber and mouthpiece of your vaporizer get clogged easily. A true vaping enthusiast cannot afford to ignore the benefits of using dry herbs in a vaporizer. Here are some of the paybacks of using well dried up herbs in a vaporizer: Optimum Vaporization: Dry herb vaporizers either use the conduction or the convection method for to vaporize the material. While conduction heats up the material by bringing it in direct contact with an already heated surface, in convection hot air is blown over the herbs. In both the processes the material has to be evenly heated to produce good amount of vapor. To achieve this effect, it is important that the herb you are using is well dried up. Dry herbs heat up evenly and thus produce optimum vapors irrespective of the heating technique used in your vaporizer. Tastier Vapor: For your vaporizer to produce flavor rich vapor, the herb used should be heated up evenly. If there is moisture in the herb you are vaping it would not be heated consistently however sophisticated your vaporizer is. As a result you will get harsh hits and uneven taste with moist herbs. Well dried up herbs on the other hand produce tastier and consistent vapor as they get vaporized more evenly. Every particle of your dry herb produces the same quality of vapor and you enjoy the taste with every draw. Longer and More Fulfilling Vaping Sessions: While the moisture in the dry herb spoil your session by producing harsh taste, well dried up material gives the same flavor from start to end.   So, if the material is moist you will lose interest in vaping very soon. In case of dry herbs, the taste maintains a consistency and you get more fulfilling session every time you vape. Longer Vaporizer Life: Moist herbs not only produce harsh vapor, but also result in formation of sticky resins that clog your heating chamber and the mouthpiece. This means that you have to clean your vaporizer every now and then. This leads to wear and tear and eventually breakdown of your device. Dry herbs on the other hand get vaporized completely and leave very little residue in the chamber or mouthpiece. It means that well dried up herbs also give a longer life to your vaporizer.

Drying herbs to use with a Vaporizer

Irrespective of the herbs you are using in your vaporizer, it is highly advisable that you dry it well before vaping. There are a number of effective methods to do so; some of these are: Glass Jar Method: Place your wet or moist herbs in a glass jar leave the lid open. As the wet herbs tend to form mold when left open, placing tissue at the bottom and top of the jar will help a lot. Leave the jar in this way for a few days and use when it is crisp and dry. Paper & Plastic Bag Method: First place your moist herbs in a brown paper bag for a few hours and then place them in a plastic bag for another few hours. Repeat this cycle till your herbs dry up completely. This method dries up your herbs evenly and you get quick results. Rice Container Method: Rice absorbs moisture very quickly and you can take advantage of this property by placing your moist herbs in a rich container. Oven Method: This is the quickest method of drying your wet herbs. Simply spread your moist herbs on a cookie tray and heat up in the oven for about 10 minutes. Make sure that the temperature does not exceed 150 degrees Fahrenheit otherwise you may lose the potency of the herb. Though the oven method is the quicker one, it is advisable not to use it as the preferred technique.

Vape Mods FAQ

What is a Vape Mod?
Vape Mods aka Box Mods are powerful batteries that can operate a huge range of tanks and other accessories. Mods differ from regular vaporizers by offering expert compatibility such as Sub-oHm Vaping, rebuildable atomizers, and some offer external power bank to charge your smartphone. New to Vape Mods? Check out our Complete Stater Kits designed to get you vaping right out the box.
What materials are compatible with Vape Mods?
Mods are usually only compatible with e-Liquids and essential oils, and should be used carefuly as they might be advanced for some users.
What is Sub-oHm Vaping and should I try it?
In Vaping, oHm represents the resistance you will experience while taking a draw from the Vape Mod. So if your Mod and tank are Sub-oHm compatible, taking a draw should be extremely easy and you will not need to inhale hard while using the Mod. This allows for a much larger air intake, and with that- Vapor intake. The Amount of Thick, Heavy Vapor Clouds you will produce with Sub-oHm is unparalleled. Sub-oHm used to be a complicated procedure with rebuildable atomizers that was expensive and unpractical for most users but recent device are making it easy and are suB-oHm capable right out the box. When you vape with a vaping device that has atomizer coils offering resistance levels of less than one Ohm, it is called sub-ohm vaping. The reason for the growing popularity of sub-ohm vaping is that it produces large clouds of vapor and vaping enthusiasts are able to take direct lung hits. However, to vape on sub-ohm levels you need highly advanced box mods that have enough safety features. That is the reason this type of vaping is being debated on such a large scale.
Is Sub-Ohm vaping really as simple as it sounds?
Though Sub-Ohm vaping sounds simple and does produce large clouds of flavor rich vapor, the mechanism behind it is rather complex. Basically it works on the Ohm’s principle and Joule’s law. As all the mechanical mods, variable voltage mods, and variable wattage mods are electrical devices, these laws come in handy when you have to achieve the right balance between the quality and quantity of the vapor produced by them. Another important aspect of sub-ohm vaping is the safety of the user and the device. When you decrease the resistance of the coil to sub-ohm levels, the battery of a mechanical mod increases the overall wattage output. This process also increases the amperage of your device and thus leads to more strain on the battery. The heat produced by the battery and the coils is also more than any other form of vaping. So, if you do not keep a check on the amperage and heat, it may lead to fire of explosion. All these factors make sub-ohm a rather intricate process that calls for quality vaporizers.
Is Sub-Ohm vaping dangerous?
If you are using a quality vaporizer and follow all the safety guidelines, sub-ohm is pretty safe and enjoyable. However, if the safety rules are not followed, the battery may give in leading to damage to property and injury to the user.
What e-liquids and nicotine levels are good for sub-ohm vaping?
Sub-Ohm vaping is typically used by vaping enthusiasts who like big clouds of flavor rich vapor. While vaping on sub-ohm levels the users take direct lung hits inhaling more vapor with each puff. It is due to these reasons they prefer e-liquids with higher percentage of vegetable glycerin than propylene glycol. The vegetable glycerin in the e-liquid produces dense clouds of vapor. In addition to this, the vegetable glycerin is light on the throat and thus allows the use to inhale more vapor with each puff. In terms of nicotine levels, sub-ohm vaping enthusiasts prefer lower concentration e-liquids. This is because the vapor produced is enormous and they get enough nicotine and flavor with each puff.
Does Sub-Ohm vaping necessarily require VV/VW devices?
No doubt, the variable voltage and variable wattage box mods are gaining popularity at a fast pace, you don’t necessarily require these for sub-ohm vaping. This is because there is ample availability of high power regulated device in the market. These box mods have the capacity to deliver power to the sub-ohm coils consistently. Maybe it is the safety features and automation in the variable wattage devices that attract more vaping enthusiasts. However, if you choose high power regulated box mod and follow the safety guidelines, they can perform much better than the variable wattage and voltage devices.
Is it safe to vape sub-ohm on mechanical mods?
Absolutely; provided you follow all the safety guidelines and a few other things. To start with, always keep your mechanical mod clean – regularly clean the threads, vents, contracts and the switches. In case you are using a spring loaded box mod, make sure that the spring is tight enough to keep the atomizer intact. Do not wait to replace the spring the moment you find it softer or sagging. Make sure that the locking mechanism of your box mod is perfect. All these things are related to the maintenance of your vaporizer. So, a well maintained box mod is a safe box mod. Another thing that ensures safe sub-ohm vaping is your choice of mechanical box mod. Irrespective of the make and model you choose, always make sure that it is amply vented. These vents not only get rid of the excessive heat produced by vaping, but also expel the gases produced due to a battery failure. So, the rule of thumb for sub-ohm vaping is that never ever vape with an unvented mechanical box mod. The second most important thing to consider while vaping on sub-ohm levels is the voltage drop of your vaporizer – always go for a low voltage drop mod. When the electricity travels from the battery to the heating coil, it loses voltage. The higher the voltage loss, the higher are the chances of battery failure. So, always go a box mod that has a single piece tube, fixed position contacts and magnetic switch. These features reduce the voltage loss and thus add to the overall safety of your device.
How to use the battery safely?
The battery you use while vaping on sub-ohm levels play the most important role in the safety of the user and the overall device. This is because it is the powerhouse that supplies power to the box mod. The more safely you channelize this power, the better it is for your overall safety. The first and the most important thing about battery safety is that you go for a quality product. Using substandard or worn out batteries is an absolute no-no when you are vaping at sub-ohm resistance levels. Ideally you should go for unprotected IMR of hybrid lithium batteries from a reputable brand. These batteries are much safer than the traditional lithium-ion, LiPo or ICR batteries as they emit the gases slowly in case of a battery failure. Always go for a battery that offers highest continuous amperage as you can vape safely at sub-ohm levels only when you are within the amperage of the battery. Never expose your battery to water, extreme heat or cold. If your batteries wrapper becomes damaged discontinue using it or take it to a reputable vape shop to see if it can be re-wrapped. If your battery is dented in any way discontinue using it right away.
Is Sub-Ohm vaping for everybody?
Though there is no hard and fast criterion for vaping at sub-ohm levels, it is certainly not for the naïve. Sub-Ohm involves certain amount of risk and therefore should only be tried who have experience in vaping. If you think that you are not so bothered about safety rules, don’t vape on sub-ohm. This is not to discourage anybody from vaping sub-ohm, but ensure your own safety.
What is RDA and RBA?
If you are new to the vaping world, you will often come across two acronyms – RDA and RBA. Just like any other jargon or lingo these terms may prove to be annoying if you wait to learn about the real meaning of these phrases. So, without wasting any further time, let’s find out what these terms stand for and what is their significance. RDA stands for “rebuildable dripping atomizer,” that is also referred to as “dripper” in the vaping world. Simply put, and RDA is an atomizer that you can build as per your own specifications to personalize your vaping experience. An RDA unit consist of a deck, coils and wicks. While the deck serves as a platform for the coil where its positive and negative ends are connected, the coil itself and the wick hold all the e-liquid or e-juice. There is no tank to hold any extra juice or e-liquid. However, in some RDAs there is a pit inside the deck of the dripper that can hold some extra juice. An RDA produces great vapor quality as this system drips directly onto the atomizer. A fully saturated wick can produce as many as 20 draws depending on the wicking material used and the resistance levels. RBA just stands for “rebuildable atomizer,” and is also known as RTA, or “rebuildable tank atomizer.”  These have decks to rebuild on just like drippers, but also have a tank section to hold extra liquid.  When built and filled, an RTA will function just like a clearomizer and allows you to enjoy multiple vaping sessions without having to refill. An RBA has four main components – the base and the deck, the chimney, the tank and drip tip. All the parts can easily be assembled within minutes and the atomizer is ready to be used.

Temperature Control Mods FAQ

What is a Temperature Control Mod
Most Vape Mods has adjustable wattage, some even have up to 200 watts of power. That is cool but in reality, that does not mean that the temperature in the coil stays consistent to the duration of the draw, and the temperature is likely to increase while you are pressing the button and taking a long draw. With a TC Vape Mod, you can set the desired temperature, and the Mod's microprocessor will make the necessary adjustment in the wattage supply to the coil, to ensure a consistent temperature (usually visible on an LCD screen). So instead of setting the Mod on 25 watts, you set it on say, 450 degrees, and that where it stays. That ensures smooth and cool Vapor, and no "burn hits" ever again. Read the full article about Temperature Control Box Mods to find out more.
Can I use any tank with a Temperature Control Mod?
Yes, but you will not get the Temperature Control functionality. If you would like to have the ability to control the temperature, you will need a temperature control liquid tank. Meaning the connection is the same 510 thread, so every tank will be able to connect to such mod, but the TC Tank has sensors and other components that will actually control the temperature. More and more high-end mod manufacturers are doing the Temperature Control a default on their products.
So should I go for high wattage?
That's is a valid question- If Temperature Control Mods have a consistent temperature in the coil, where does the wattage come into play? The answer is, that most noticeably the extra wattage will show in the speed of getting to the desired temperature, and in the consistency of staying there. Just like it will feel better to cruise on 80 mph on a Porsche rather than on a Kia. although both can do it.
Will I save on liquid with Temperature Control?
Yes! And might even be a lot. I will not get into the science behind it here, but first testings show savings of up to 40% in Juice consumption. With non-TC Mods, the battery sends high wattage to the coil for as long as you hold the button. This burns more liquid, but does not give you more Vapor. With a Temp Control Mod, the wattage drops after the first second to the exact amount in order to sustain temperature. So after a few seconds of drawing, the wattage might drop from 50w initially, to 10w. That will preserve e-Juice, and will make for a more enjoyable experience.
Will Temperature Control Mod have longer battery life?
Yes. because the unit starts with a high wattage hit in order to heat the coil up, after that the wattage drops and the processor only provides the necessary power to maintain the desired temperature. That saves on battery and will last longer between charges.

e-Liquid / e-Juice / Vape Juice

What is e-Liquid?
E-liquids are ready to be vaped mixtures of Nicotine (optional), flavors and vaping agents. All you have to do is fill your atomizer/ clearomizer with the e-liquid and you are ready to vape. Nicotine/Flavoring is the process of creating your own flavors with the desired quantity of Nicotine and flavors. This is done in particular by people who are seasoned vaping enthusiasts who have a deep understanding of how different materials used in vaping behave. However, even an novice can be good at it if they gather enough information on the subject. You need to know things like different Nicotine levels, PG/VG and flavoring agents etc. In addition to this, you should have ample supplies of everything required to mix flavors.
What is PG / VG?
In simple terms PG stands for Propylene Glycol and VG is for Vegetable Glycerin. Both the ingredients are an integral part of any e-liquid. These substances act as a base mixture to achieve the kind of vapor and flavor one is looking for. In terms of usability, both the substances have been classified as “GRAS” (Generally Regarded as Safe) by the FDA. PG/VG are extensively used in foodstuffs, medicines, toiletries, toothpastes, soaps and cosmetics. PG serves as an ideal base of mixing as it is a very thin liquid and is great for carrying flavors. The thinness of the PG decreases further when nicotine and flavors are added to it. So, the vapor produced by such e-liquids is generally very less, but he flavor is great. If you are using a PG rich e-liquid, standard tanks like the Aspire Tank, iClear and Kanger Protank can give great performance. In terms of sensitivity, not many people face any problem with PG. So, a majority of people can vape on e-liquids high on PG. Vegetable Glycol (VG) on the other hand is thicker and a bit on the sweeter side. As a result it produces thick clouds of vapor that are clearly visible to the eye. However, the thickness of the VG may result in clogging of your vaporizer. So, it is advisable to keep the VG part in check, especially if your are mixing your own e-liquid. Also, the VG based e-liquids are not recommended for regular tanks. Such e-liquids give great performance with drippers and subtnaks. Another drawback of using too much of VG in a mixture is that its sweetness may dampen the throat hits and can also alter the flavor. You have to decide on the proportion of PG/VG depending on the kind of throat hit, flavor and vapor quantity you are looking for. More importantly, the kind of tank you are using in your vaporizer also has an effect on the ratio of PG/VG. If you are using a standard device the percentage of VG should not exceed 20%. Otherwise you will lose the taste and your device may clog every easily. But if you are using a subohm tank you may use VG up to 80%. To make the e-liquids compatible with both standard and subohm tanks, most of the manufacturers of premium e-liquids use a 50/50 mix of PG and VG.
What is the ideal PG/VG mix?
Though a majority of premium e-liquids use a 50/50 mix of PG and VG, there is no such thing as the ideal ratio. Depending of the kind of vaporizer you are using and the quality of vapor you want to generate, your can choose your own PG/VG mix.   However, before creating a mix you should keep in mind that too much of PG will reduce vapor production and excess of VG may result in clogging of your tank or atomizer.
What does it mean when one says “steeping the e-liquid”?
Steeping of an e-liquid is all about producing optimum taste from it. Mix your e-liquid, try it and if your find it good enough, leave it for a day or two for steeping. After an interval of three days you will get optimum flavor and aroma from the e-liquid.
What nicotine level should I go for?
Nicotine level of an e-liquid is measured in milligrams (mg). In the market there are a number of brands that offer nicotine levels from 0 to 24 mg. However, your ideal range depends on the kind of smoking habits you have had. If you have been smoking for a long time, nicotine levels of 18 to 24 mg will give just the kind of taste and experience that you are looking for. For starters anywhere between 3 to 13mg will fetch the right results.
