The new Puffco Peak is a stripped-down version of the Peak Pro that is also around half its price. I went through over a hundred dabs with this rig, and in this post, I’ll review its features, compare it to the Peak Pro.

Design
The rig itself is a little smaller than the Peak Pro and fits very well in my palm. I can easily use it with one hand, and it has an ergonomic feel. My index finger can easily reach the joystick, which is a little more challenging with the Peak Pro, especially if you have small hands, and even more so if you use the 3DXL.
Chamber
The chamber is probably the biggest visual difference between the Peak and the Peak Pro.
The Peak’s chamber is more integrated into the body of the device and looks more seamless. If I take it out here, you can see that most of it sits internally. It is more integrated into the body than the Peak Pro.
The Peak’s chamber is also significantly smaller than the Peak Pro’s 3D chamber. It is not as wide, as deep, or as powerful as the one on the Peak Pro. It is slightly larger than the Proxy’s chamber..
Joystick
Both chambers feature Puffco’s innovative “joystick carb cap,” which lets you direct airflow to the corners of the chamber. This maximizes airflow and the increases the efficiency of the extraction. Here, too, the new Peak’s joystick is smaller and less robust than the one on the Peak Pro.
Interface
The session duration is 45 seconds, and there is no option to customize it. You can stop it manually at any time by holding down the button.
Double-clicking again, after it has reached the temperature, will enter boost mode, which will increase the temperature by 18°F and extend the duration by 15 seconds.
Intensity mode
Intensity mode is not its own temperature level; it is an enhancement of each of the four presets. So if I set mine to Green and click five times instead of twice, the LED will show a rainbow pattern for a couple of seconds, and then change to Green, or whatever color corresponds to the preset you’re on.
Performance
The vapor quality is top-notch, no matter the temp level.
One of the defining features of the Peak product line is real-time temperature control. This means that the bowl has a temperature sensor that sends data to a microprocessor that makes real-time adjustments to the intensity of the heating element to maintain a precise, regulated temperature in the bowl. This prevents the concentrate from overheating and ensures a predictable, consistent experience.

Bottom line
The new Peak breaks the price barrier, making it accessible to average users. At $220, it’s a great entry point, though it lacks firmware updates and has a smaller joystick compared to the Pro. If I were a competitor, I’d be worried.
At $420, the Pro is surely an investment that is hard to justify if you’re not a real enthusiast. The new Peak aims to be more mainstream and accessible to the average user.
