Overview

Toronto-based company Utillian is known for manufacturing high-quality and reasonably priced vaporizers - and the 620 is a good example of that. It is a smaller, more compact version of the Utillian 421 and Utillian 722, and is only compatible with dry herb. The 620 features an improved “Helix” convection heating element, a familiar box-style design, and a glass mouthpiece that keeps the vapor pure and flavorful. The 620 also has a simple user interface- making it well-suited for beginners. The Utillian 620 has a device body made of anodized aluminum and a user interface with three buttons - a power button and two temperature control buttons. It also has a glass mouthpiece with a “cooling chamber” that cools down the vapor before it’s inhaled.

Features

  • Magnetic Mouthpiece: The mouthpiece attaches onto the device with magnets - making loading much easier. The borosilicate glass material keeps vapor pure.
  • Precise Temperature Control: The temperature of the 620 may be set anywhere from 320 – 428°F (160 – 220°C).
  • Heating Chamber: The aluminum heating chamber fits 0.1 to 0.2 grams of herb per session. It may be removed for easier cleaning.
  • Stirring Tool: Found at the bottom of the unit, this magnetic tool aids in loading, emptying the bowl, and a quick stirring between sessions.
  • Battery: The 620 is powered by a 2300mAH battery that lasts 45-50 minutes on a single charge.

Convection Helix Heating

The helix/spiral metal piece is located underneath the oven and is designed to increase heat intensity. The air travels from the intake at the bottom of the device and travels up the spiral-shaped metal piece before it gets to the oven. This creates a more even heat distribution and produces more flavorful vapor while using less dry herb. It is also removable to prevent clogging and for airpath cleaning.

How to Use

  1. Remove the magnetic mouthpiece from the unit.
  2. Load the dry herb into the heating chamber.
  3. Replace the mouthpiece.
  4. Press the power button 5 times to turn the unit on.
  5. Press the up and down buttons to select your desired temperature.
  6. Once the unit vibrates, this means that the temperature has been reached.
  7. Start inhaling the vapor.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Helix Heating? One of the standout features of the Utiliian 620 is the introduction of a new convection heating element, that’s supposed to increase the heat intensity in the oven. The air runs through a spiral/ helix-shaped metal piece before it gets to the oven, and that creates a more even heat distribution.
  • Who’s the Utillian 620 made for? The Utillian 620 was definitely designed for users who prioritize function over style. Not to say that the 620 isn’t stylish – it definitely is. But its priorities lean heavier on the functional side of things.
  • How do I clean the Utillian 620? Utillian recommends a thorough cleaning of the heating chamber every three sessions. To do this, dip a q-tip in ISO alcohol and swab through the chamber to remove any leftover residue. Once in a while, you’ll also have to give the airpath a deep clean. Simply pop out the stirring tool at the base of the 620 and insert it in the small hole at the bottom of the airpath. This will prop up the heating coil which you then submerge in ISO alcohol for 20-30 minutes.
  • How long does the battery on the Utillian 620 last? For a device of its size, the 620 has a pretty sizable battery at 2300mAh – which is good for roughly 40-50 minutes on a single charge.
  • What is convection heating? Convection heating is when the dry herb is heated via the hot air that passes through the oven, as opposed to via direct contact with the heating element (conduction heating). This plus the helix piece are what help the 620 deliver great, flavor-forward results.
  • What is the stirring tool for? The stirring tool is located at the bottom of the Utillian 620 and is pretty multi-purpose. It can be used to stir the herb once while you vape if you really want maximal extraction and to help remove the heating coil for cleaning.
